About Monosyllabic Experiment 3

I like the challenge of coming up with a story on Sein und Werden's single-word theme, and had three different works in process on the idea of "nightmares" this time.  Unfortunately, none of them really clawed at my head to get out into the world.

A friend spurred me from the couch during an episode of Lost: "I bet you can't write it using nothing but one-syllable words."

It was just the pepper I needed.  I tossed aside the other stories and started experimenting with single-syllables.  It took three tries before I felt I had something that could stand the light of day.  The plot line is a mere sketch, and it's predictable, but I was working more on how the words contributed to the feel of the story.  I like how the monosyllables build up the tight, confined setting of the asylum and added to the tone of paranoia, but I found that writing the morning scenes and keeping the tone 'normal' was much more difficult.
