A cut-up poem based on a letter written by a child psychiatrist about a child of 6 who was struggling with the aftermath of being stabbed in a park at the age of 5.
Mrs P requested psychiatric assessment of P
P behaved in a provocative self willed way
with a lack of restraint and was uninhibited in his behaviour
he was restless, enjoyed flaunting authority deliberately, consciously
with an awareness that
working himself up into a state of excitement would provoke
he has always had his own way
P is going to be a severe behaviour problem

Mrs P has tried all the usual disciplinary methods
with no effect.
given syrup of tryptisol1 25 mg 3 times daily to help mother restore
her authority
At school he is considered ordinary
his development history was straightforward

P is the youngest (eds note second youngest) of three (eds note five children)
Mr P thinks nothing is wrong.
Mr P opts out and works extraordinarily long hours
Mrs P thinks he blames her and undermines her
Mrs P has insight into the situation
and gets no support from her husband

P was attacked and stabbed in a park
This was not the cause of his present behaviour
It is the stresses and strains within the family
Arrange to see P at the clinic but doubtful much can be done
